Hey there, everyone! Simeon again- super sorry for the lack of a post yesterday, I was just feeling absolutely terrible, and I couldn't even find it in myself to get to the computer. Typical me, too- second day on the job, and I've already messed up. But it's all good now- my head still feels really weird, but I'm back at work today, and Danella says I don't look overly terrible, so it's good news all round.
As ever, I'm in the mood to talk about some healing- and in light of recent events (regarding my headache and possible illness), I feel like today's discussion should be on medicinal plants.
Now, as any mage will know, there are many different kinds of medicinal plants and herbs, and they are all used for different things. For example, the bark of the willow tree contains salicylic acid, the active ingredient in aspirin. As such, this has been used for millennia for basic pain relief and in order to reduce fever. Similarly, feverfew can also be used to relieve headaches (thank goodness!), stomachaches and toothaches, and catnip can also easily relieve headaches and migraines.
Ginger is also useful as a medicine, as it helps fight against inflammation, and can balance the digestive process. Lavender, my favourite flower, when extracted as an oil, can be used to keep away dandruff, to relieve dryness and itchiness of the skin, as an antidepressant, and is also a much better solution for sunburn than boring old after sun. Thyme (as in the herb, not the concept) is also a solution for skin problems such as dryness, redness and swelling.
Now, tea tree oil is widely used to treat infection of the skin, mouth and nose, and is also an effective reliever of headaches.
Speaking of, I must be off- I've a meeting in ten minutes, and I'm not entirely sure where the room is. Until next time, dear readers!
-Simeon York :-)
