Simeon Speaks- Healing and Introductions

Hello everyone! This is Simeon, Radix Inc.'s self-proclaimed healing expert, deputy director of Communications and PR, and an enthusiast of all kinds of technology! It's my month to keep an eye on the blog (make sure it's getting updated, and all that jazz), and I'm super excited to help out! I'm also a huge fan of reading, from self-help to romance, crime to sci-fi, I'll read it all. Danella may claim not to enjoy this, but she's got a smirk on her face whenever she checks her computer... although, she may just be on Facebook again.

I'm getting a little off topic though- today, I'm going to go through the different kinds of healing magic with all you readers, and give you an insight into what kind I prefer- although it's really not hard to tell.

There are benefits to all kinds of healing spells, of course, but there are three main types. Elemental, where you'd make use of some kind of substance, the general restoration spell that comes from willpower, and then there's the age-old favourite that's deeply rooted in alchemy. Potion making, now, but I've always been a traditionalist.

Elemental is always a classic, but getting the right herbs/spices/crystals for what you want isn't always easy, and I would know. However, it gives the spells a stronger source to draw from, and as such it can easily be argued as the best of the three. The top of the pyramid? That analogy won't work. Never mind.

However, willpowered restoration is way easier for novices, and if you've got a strong reserve of magic, it makes it the best way, hands down, no holds barred. Personally, I like this way the most, but that's just my preference- there are many who find it too draining.

With alchemy and any alchemical route, it's much the same as elemental casting- getting the ingredients for it isn't always the easiest. However, a large stock of a potion can be made up at any time, so in the long term (say, going on a trip) this is probably your best bet.

An Apology, and Some Medicinal Knowledge

Hey there, everyone! Simeon again- super sorry for the lack of a post yesterday, I was just feeling absolutely terrible, and I couldn't even find it in myself to get to the computer. Typical me, too- second day on the job, and I've already messed up. But it's all good now- my head still feels really weird, but I'm back at work today, and Danella says I don't look overly terrible, so it's good news all round. As ever, I'm in the mood to talk about some healing- and in light of recent events (regarding my headache and possible illness), I feel like today's discussion should be on medicinal plants.  Now, as any mage will know, there are many different kinds of medicinal plants and herbs, and they are all used for different things. For example, the bark of the willow tree contains salicylic acid, the active ingredient in aspirin. As such, this has been used for millennia for basic pain relief and in order to reduce fever. Similarly, feverfew can als...
